A Quality of Service Performance Evaluation Strategy for Delay Classes in General Packet Radio Service
نویسنده
چکیده
The wireless networks are experiencing higher delay, higher error rate, and lower bandwidth compared to wired networks. The customers not only need mobility but also quality. It is a great challenge for the service providers to offer Quality of Service (QoS). The QoS parameters are divided into two categories such as Qualitative QoS parameters (reliability, security, etc.) and Quantitative QoS parameters (bandwidth, delay, jitter, etc). The requirements of the above parameters will vary from one application to another application. In this paper, we would like to propose an efficient technique to store the QoS requirements of data transfer and to evaluate the performance of data transfer with respect to delay. Certainly, the outcome of this paper will help to compare the expected QoS requirements with the actual QoS results, to understand performance degradation and to identify the parameters responsible for delay problem.

Service scheduling for general packet radio service classes
While the quality of service (QoS) profiles for a number of general packet radio service (GPRS) classes has been specified [1] by ETSI, how QoS management is provided by means of traffic scheduling, traffic shaping, and connection admission control, in a GPRS network is an implementation issue that is attracting significant current research interest. This paper presents an evaluation of several...
متن کاملService disciplines performance for GPRS with link adaptation and heterogeneous traffic
The General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) system provides packet switched data service with quality of service (QoS) over a GSM infrastructure. In order to cope with the QoS requirements, packet scheduling strategies are used. On the other hand, GPRS introduces four coding schemes with different degrees of data protection according to the radio channel conditions. Then, the selection of appropria...

The General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) offers performance guaranteed packet data services to mobile users. A dynamic adaptive guaranteed quality-of-service (QoS) provisioning scheme is proposed over GPRS wireless mobile links via the guaranteed QoS media access control (GQ-MAC) protocol and the accompanying adaptive prioritized-handoff call admission control (AP-CAC) protocol to maintain QoS g...

In this paper, loss probabilities and steady state probabilities of data packets for an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network are investigated under the buffer division and push-out schemes. Data packets are classified in classes k which arrive in Poisson fashion to the service facility and are served with general service rate under buffer division scheme, finite buffer space N is divided in...

With the development of technology, the use of wireless telecommunication networks for the various affairs is essential. These networks are one of the safest and most widely used networks, for instance, in medical care and remote patient monitoring. What matters is the quality of service in these networks. The purpose of this paper is to increase packet transduction in a wireless body area netw...
